Flexible Product Development

« Back to Glossary Index

Flexible Product Development, as explained by Preston Smith in his book Flexible Product Development: Agile Hardware Development to Liberate Innovation, is a set of tools enabling product developers to defer decisions later in the development process. This ability to delay decisions allows developers to react to the most up-to-date information before freezing the product design. The longer decisions can be delayed, the more flexible the process is.

The ability to modify products in development in response to market, competitor, technology and other changes has become critical, due to the quickening pace of change in our world. Learn more about Flexible Product Development.
