The Product Risk Framework is a tool developed by Mary Drotar and Kathy Morrissey of Strategy 2 Market, Inc. that leads a product development team through a process to identify, evaluate, prioritize, resolve and track uncertainty and risk in developing a new product. The generic tool classifies uncertainty and risk into 4 broad, but further segmented categories of external factors, product/technical feasibility, business configuration and commercial feasibility.
Although the tool was developed to support the Exploratory Product Development Process, it works well with other product development processes by providing a clear system for assessing and managing risk prior to and during development.
